Depression
A mental state of depressed mood characterized by feelings of sadness, despair and discouragement. Depression ranges from normal feelings of the blues through dysthymia to major depression. It in many ways resembles the grief and mourning that follow bereavement, there are often feelings of low self esteem, guilt and self reproach, withdrawal from interpersonal contact and physical symptoms such as eating and sleep disturbances.
Manic-Depressive Disorder
People with this disorder are commonly called bipolar. They experience times of deep depression and then times of mania. Withdrawal, thoughts of suicide, changed sleep patterns, pessimistic outlook, etc. are all symptoms of manic-depression.
Menopause-Related Problems
Every woman must experience the change that occurs when ovulation and menstruation stop. At this point a woman is going through menopause and child-bearing is done. Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone levels decrease. The decrease in these hormones effects the reproductive organs, as well as other parts of the body. Common discomforts include hot flashes, dry skin, anxiety, bloating, headaches, insomnia, mood swings, night sweats, weight gain, and decrease in libido.
Senility (Senile Dementia)
Senility, commonly called dementia, develops when brain cells are lost. Some of the symptoms may include loss of long-term memory, fearfulness, forgetfulness, agitation, inability to process new information, frustration, paranoia, fear of being alone, etc. Injuries may occur along with constipation, nutritional deficiencies, and infections.
