Roman Chamomile

Roman chamomile (Anthemis nobilis) is a highly renowned herb for its ability to instill a sense of relaxation. It is related to the daisy, yet smells of apples (chamomile comes from a Greek word meaning “earth apple”) and is mild in every way. Roman chamomile oil, which comes from the flowers of the plant, is especially valued in aromatherapy as a remedy for feelings of tension engendered by any number of causes (anger, PMS, excessive caffeine). Because of its histamine-blocking properties, Roman chamomile oil is also used as an anti-inflammatory and can reduce pain and irritation of the skin. Its benefit to the skin also includes cleansing. The oil removes harmful bacteria that can result in blemishes.
