Tips for Weight Loss

Im trying to lose weight. Do you have any advice?

Another summer has past, so we can put away our bating suits for a while, but for some of us there is a special event that has been on the calendar for months and we have not lost the weight we intended to lose.  It might be a wedding, a class reunion, or a vacation, it does not really matter, we just want to look our best.  The truth is, when we look our best, we also feel our best, which gives us a double dose of confidence and an extra spring in our step.  The big problem is actually losing the weight.  Below are seven surefire tips to help you get the scale moving in the right direction.

1.  Eat Small frequent meals everyday:
Eat between 5 and 7 small meals throughout the day.  Eating every 2-3 hours will keep blood sugar and insulin levels normal and increase metabolism.  This will provide a constant level of energy all day and promote fat burning.

2. Eat breakfast everyday:

Start out everyday with a good breakfast shortly after waking.  This will prime your metabolism for the rest of the day and will also promote fat burning.
Make sure to consume a good source of protein for breakfast like eggs, or a breakfast meat like turkey bacon.

3. Eat high fiber foods:
Focusing on high fiber foods will allow you to eat plenty of food throughout the day without starving yourself.  Eating high fiber foods will help to create a feeling of fullness without consuming too many calories. By selecting high fiber foods, you can actually eat your way to being thin.

4. Limit refined sugars and grains:

This includes high fructose corn syrup, pasta, breads, cereals, bagels, crackers, chips, juices and soda.  All of these foods have virtually no fiber, which cause huge fluctuations in blood sugar and insulin levels, leading to low energy and weight gain

5. Drink green tea:
Green tea contains a small amount of caffeine, but not as much as coffee.  Green tea will still provide a gentle energy boost, but will not suppress your appetite like coffee.

6.  Consume “good” fats everyday:
Good fats include olive oil, fish oil, flax oil and avocados.  Don’t be afraid of fat, you we need to consume fat to lose fat.  Your body prefers either sugar or fat as an energy source, so avoid sugar and give you body plenty of ‘good’ fats.  This kind of fat consumption will help boost metabolism and promote fat burning.

7.  Drink lots of water:

Remember to drink plenty of water everyday to keep yourself well hydrated.  The more active you are the more water you should consume.

In conclusion, it is not surprising that many people struggle in their weight loss efforts because weight gain is a very complex biochemical problem with many contributing factors.  Follow these simple yet extremely effective tips and you will achieve your weight loss goals and look great for your special event.
