bulimia
Hi Dr. I suffer from bulimia. I purge at least once a day. It use to be more. I have A Typical Depression. This is a specific type of depression that I research and is 100% me. I use to take prozac until I disocovered about my type of depression and now I take Effexor and it has helped with my bulimia a lot and depression but I still need help with both issues. I really want to be cured from the bulimia. I take my fish oil pills, gaba, mulity vitamin, apple cider vinager, brewers yeast. epa, ala, ginko, and escepically my free form amino acids because bulimics loose many enzymes used to break down the foods. I am 19 years old. I know a lot about my disorder and have read a lot about it but I need more help so I can be cured 100%. Oh and last thing. I have no energy all day long. I want some energy back so I can exercise and stay focused in school. thank you. please get back to me. I am desperetly needing and seeking guidience to recovery.
Bulimia and all eating disorders are a very serious
situation. They inflict a large amount of stress on the body and can
cause long term damage if severe enough. It sounds like your
supplementation protocol is quite good and there is not much more in the way of
vitamins that I can recommend. You may try adding an additional B-complex
to help support energy levels and to assist your body in dealing with the
stress it is under.
What I really encourage you to do is seek the help of a trained professional who
can give you the tools to get better. Often times with eating disorders a
inpatient setting works best because you can be monitored and given the 24 hour
support needed to overcome this disorder. If you have not already, you
must find someone who specializes in dealing with eating disorders because the
only way to get your body better is to get your mind better so you can stop the
destructive behavior.
If you are having trouble finding recourses or are not happy with the current
care you are getting you can find additional information and databases of
practitioners who specialize in eating disorders at www.edpa.org which is the
National Eating Disorder Association or www.something-fishy.org
which is another site devoted to sharing resources for people with eating
disorders.
