B100 while nursing?
Dr. Passero,
I am nursing a 9 month old baby boy and was told by a friend that B100 is an excellent vitamin to be on to regulate low levels of anxiety. Should I take it while Im nursing?
Thank you in advance for answering!
High potency B complex vitamins are generally recognized as
safe in breastfeeding. However, there is
no telling how your baby will react to its presence in your body. You should look out for any differences in
your baby’s response to your breast milk.
In addition, you might want to start with a B-50 complex vs. a B100
because it is lower dose. Consulting
with your pediatrician before starting a new supplements is also advisable.
Fish oil can also be helpful for anxiety and is a very
important nutrient for your baby’s developing nervous system. If you start with this first in combination
with a high quality multi-vitamin you may see significant improvements in your
anxiety and you will know that your baby is getting essential fatty acids
needed for optimal brain and neurological development.
