Chlorophyll is found in most plants. It is the pigment responsible for its green color. Chlorophyll enables the plant to take in energy from sunlight and convert it to chemical energy through a process called photosynthesis. The plant converts carbon dioxide and water into carbohydrates and oxygen.

At the center of the chlorophyll molecule is magnesium. Molecularly the structure is similar to the hemi portion of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is responsible for transporting oxygen to the cells. Chlorophyll is found in its highest concentration in plants like algae, wheat grass, and alfalfa. Vitabase Chlorophyll comes from high quality alfalfa. Chlorophyll has a long tradition of being used to improve bad breath.

It is a good source of antioxidants. Antioxidants help protect the body from the damage caused by free radicals. Chlorophyll can deliver magnesium efficiently as well. Magnesium plays a vital role in a significant number of body functions including the action of more than 300 enzymes.
