I am 35 years old and I used to be very energetic and full of life. Lately I have noticed significantly decreased energy, I rely more and more on caffeine, and also joints that ache constantly. I started taking glucosamine in addition to my daily multi vitamin for women, but found out that one of the side effects might be drowsiness. Is there a balance of supplements that I can take for overall general improvement? Am I just getting old or is there something wrong with me? PLEASE help me, I am way to young to slow down! I have been diagnosed with clinical depression. After trying numerous anti depressants since my teens on and off I decided to come off them while trying to conceive baby no 2. I am currently taking 1200mg of Omega 3 and am wondering how much I can take whilst in my situation. I will also want to take Omegas throughout the pregnancy and after...as I am prone to anxiety and depression. I had post postpartum depression with my first child and really would like to avoid it next time around : I also take 1500mg EPO for the first part of my cycle. This is obviously stopped after ovulation and if I were to conceive. I strongly believe in using natural methods to help with my situation as I believe the body can heal itself better using foods/herbs. I also suffer from very low self esteem and am practicing yoga once weekly. I just wish that the insurance companies could see the validity in natural health. Any advice on the amount of Omegas I can take would be greatly appreciated, Many Thanks.

Thank you for that great question.  Omega 3 fatty acid supplementation is a critical part of pre-natal care that is often overlooked.  A child's developing nervous system needs access to abundant Omega 3 fatty... Read More    Ask Your Question

Hi, I have a problem which probably doesn’t sound big but is seriously getting me down and damaging my social life. Ever since I was about 16/17 whenever I seem to step onto grass flies follow me or hover over my head. It is particularly worse in the summer. I cannot seem to be able to go to the park without flies swarming all above my head and it is clearly recognizable to see. It has meant me making several excuses not to go to the park and sometimes it is impossible to get out of but its an embarrassing situation and one I’m desperately trying to solve. I use hair products which my friends use and ones that have been voted the best etc. I don’t smell any differently to anyone else and I just don’t know what to do to solve the problem. There is obviously some kind of smell I’m giving off but I don’t know how to fix this.

This sounds like a very pesky problem and the fact that it is inhibiting your ability to enjoy the outdoors is of particular concern.  It is possible that you are releasing some type of odor that is particularly attractive to insects, but... Read More    Ask Your Question

Hi, I was taking daily 2000mg of flaxseed oil , one cod liver oil capsule 525mg with added A,D, & E in the cod liver oil and magnesium 300mg.  The flax seed oil just in the last 3 weeks .. but recently became very nauseas and sick with diarrhea and almost anxiety attacks . I feel I may have over done the omega 3s and have since realized all of these things thin the blood.  During this period I have also taken ibuprophen .. another blood thinner.  My question is this, could the sickness and diarrhea been brought on by this concoction of supplements and have I done myself long term harm / And could I take valerian for the anxiety?  I cannot sleep because of the anxiety.  I have given up all the supplements in the mean time .

Although it is never possible to predict how a person will react to any medication or supplement, there is enough known about different supplements to predict what one might expect.  In most... Read More    Ask Your Question
